Achy, Breaky Chart: Hannah Montana No. 1

Miley Cyrus really is a daddy's girl.

Miley, who plays the titular character in the hugely popular Disney Channel series Hannah Montana opposite real-life papa Billy Ray Cyrus, has followed her father's footsteps to the top of the pop charts.

For the week ended Sunday, the Hannah Montana soundtrack moved 281,000 copies, becoming the first TV soundtrack to debut at number one since SoundScan began tracking album sales in 1991—and outperforming major releases by My Chemical Romance and John Legend.

In addition to eight cuts by Miley (who plays the dual role of a normal teenager and a superstar singer on the show), the soundtrack features the father-daughter duet "I Learned from You." Billy Ray, who plays Miley's onscreen father, is a chart trendsetter himself. The master of the mullet spent a whopping 17 weeks atop the Billboard 200 with 1992's Some Gave All. The disc sold upward of 9 million copies in the U.S. and benefited from the monster hit "Achy Breaky Heart," which helped sparked the country-line-dancing craze of the early '90s.

With Hannah Montana, the Mouse House scored its third monster TV soundtrack of the year. The High School Musical soundtrack, which topped the charts twice already, ranks as the bestselling release of '06, with 3.2 million in sales. It currently sits at number 45. Likewise, the Cheetah Girls 2 soundtrack debuted at number five in August and is perched at number 32 with nearly 600,000 copies sold.
